Mayor James Michael Curley endorses Franklin Roosevelt for president in Manchester-by-the-Sea.

June 13, 1931

Curley announces his endorsement at a conference on the North Shore. A few days earlier, the two men had ridden in a train together from New York City. During that trip, Curley reputedly suggested to Roosevelt that an appointment as Secretary of the Navy would be a suitable reward for his support.
